Four grey containers have been set up in town, likely to become pop-up stands for day use.

CORNWALL – Last fall city council discussed the idea of a pilot project for pop-up businesses in Lamoureux Park. Flash forward months later and given the pandemic and the steps to recovery, the idea is coming to life in some areas.

Two small sea-cans are in the parkette just west of the covered parking for the Cornwall Square, one next to the Port Theatre, and a fourth will be at the Marina.

Local artists are painting them, and Tracy-Lynn Davies of Cailuan Gallery has dibs on one at the parkette.

“We have a deadline of Wednesday, July 8, to complete them,” says Davies. “There has been an extension from the original date proposed, but I’m getting a good start on it now.” Other groups will take on the remainders.

The official launch will be Wednesday, July 8, and Cornwall Tourism will be releasing more information about renting them. Comments have been very positive about the initiative and (the artistry) should brighten up our downtown, said Davies.
